Accessibility

We want every reader to be able to use this site, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or magnification. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we've checked

  • Photographs carry descriptions for screen readers.
  • Information levels are shown in words and with a step meter, never by colour alone.

Known gaps

  • The map is hard to use with a screen reader or keyboard. Every incident on the map is also in the list view, which works fully with both. Choose "List" above the map.
  • Official report PDFs we link to are published by the investigating authorities. Some are scanned documents that screen readers can't read. Our report search and the citations on each page give the text in an accessible form where we have it.

Report a problem

If something on the site doesn't work for you, please tell us. Use the corrections form or email [email protected], and say which page and what went wrong.
